Lincoln Inspired – Literature, Performance & Art
This month saw Lincoln Inspired Festival returning for a second year of art, music & literature from local and national talent.
We have been lucky enough to be involved this year with two other venues in an Arts Trail, showcasing Visual Art from ten artists. Throughout the rest of May we will be showing an exhibiton by Liana Hemmett, titled, ‘Yet, Ourselves’. Liana’s work is also availble to purchase from The Angel at the end of the exhibition.
Curator John Byford explains more;
Contrasting soft petals with the hard silhouette of a black gullwing or the curve of a granite face, capturing a ray about to pierce an under-batting of a rain-soaked sky – Liana, also a writer, shows us things “as they are”. Yet there is humanity in the foreground and this is how Liana achieves intimacy so intense that, ultimately, we see not her vision but our own instead.
We also have a small installation of craft by Marie Williamson, titled ‘Simply Unique’
Marie refers to herself as a crafter rather than an artist, preferring 3D art. She is selling a range of handmade crafts and crochet, all available at The Angel until the end of the month.
